Encino
The owner of this luxurious, villa-style home was seeking a clean European-inspired look with room for lounging around the pool. I borrowed architectural cues from the home and included angles on the house side but squared off around the pool for balance.
European Retreat
The inclusion of columns and sheer water features offer a European flair. The sun shelf has two triangular benches on either side with a wraparound step. Angular planters of white marble stone extend the polished look. Landscaping includes Italian cypress, English lavender, rosemary, and pittosporum for a highly fragrant combination. Landscape lighting throughout rounds out the design.
Materials
Materials were chosen to draw the European feel of the home into the outdoor space. These include silver travertine decking in a Versailles pattern, contrasting travertine coping and split face, 1” x 2” blue blend waterline tile, and a gray pebble interior.
