The homeowner described her dream pool as an island pool with the spa in the center. She also wanted to include a beach entry and a rock grotto. Making her dream a reality included some compromises to meet her budget, but the result is stunning.
A Unique Feature
A gradual beach entry wraps around the spa to achieve the effect of an island spa. This winding entry mimics a spiral staircase and adds drama to the design. A bench tucked behind the spa provides a place to lounge and a secondary exit from the pool.
The Island Life
An island planter with a flagstone ribbon further reflects the island theme. All elements are custom freeform shapes with careful consideration for space planning. Tropical plants are interspersed with native ones to enhance the natural feel.
Materials
The lagoon-inspired materials including Oklahoma Wister flagstone, exposed rainbow aggregate deck, Texas moss rock grotto, desert sand pebble interior, and a dark gray/blue waterline tile.
